Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Advice for starting the game
We have put together a few small tips to help you get started successfully:
Character selection:
One of the special features of Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the possibility to play one of the Origin characters. These have an extensive history, offer special dubbing and have their own quests. Choosing to start with one of the Origin characters also invites you to play through again. The Origin characters you don't choose, or if you play a completely self-made hero, can still join your party during the course of the story.
Click on everything and everyone!
You never know which NPC gives you a hidden quest or tells you an extra story. Likewise, every small item can be important in the course of your journey and maybe the key to a great secret.
Choice of camera perspective:
The camera in Divinity is freely rotatable, don't forget to do this while exploring the area and looking for clues. Often you can only find hidden cave entrances from a different angle.
Save money with the bone man
If your main character is not undead, you should consider adding the Origin character to your party. Apart from the cool sarcastic sayings, his rickety bony fingers also serve as a lockpick and open many a door. So you save gold for lock picks.
A heart for animals
The talent "Pet Pal" is a real insider tip and a good talent to start with. This allows you to talk to all the animals on the way and receive important tips and hints. Many of the conversations are not only good for a laugh, but also offer interesting moments with your characters.
In addition, the hints: Protect the black cat! At least if you are not superstitious.
Struggles
Use the Quick save function. Even on the normal level of difficulty, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is not exactly easy and the fights are sometimes extremely tough. So save regularly if something is suspicious and give yourself the opportunity to prepare.
Tactical advance in the opposite direction
Evil tongues also call it escape. If a character is out of range of the enemies, you can flee and reappear at the next waypoint.
Use your surroundings
One of the main features in the battles of Divinity is the ability to interact with all kinds of objects in the environment. Often times this is the difference between winning and losing. There are different possibilities. Oil and fire is probably the most obvious, the rain magic in combination with a frost magic ensures ice surfaces that can trip your opponents. With such obstacles you can protect your flanks and gain advantages.
Resting everywhere
After a tough fight, when your troops are in poor shape, it is often worth taking a nap. This saves you expensive and guessing healing spells and potions. Unfortunately, the nearest bed shop is usually a little further away, so you should take the first sleeping bag ("bed roll") you find with you. So you can set up camp anywhere and relax.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a role-playing game with tactical round-robin combat in the style of the legendary Baldur's Gate and since 14.9. available everywhere.
