With the opening ceremony this morning, the main round of the League of Legends World Championship 2017 began. The group phase in which teams from 4 groups fight for a place in the quarter-finals began relatively sobering from a western perspective.

Every year the hopes are high and the NA and EU teams never tire of asserting that this year everything will be better and that the Asian supremacy in League will be broken. Unfortunately, the end result of the first day with 0 wins in 4 matches between NA / EU teams and the rest of the teams looks very poor. But hope dies last, the group stage will last a few days and with Team SoloMid one of the stronger western teams is still missing.

League of Legends - World Championship 6 group matches on the first day

So won Royal Never Give UP (China) against 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports clear in 38 minutes. 38 minutes may sound like a highly competitive game, but it is the usual time in Royal wins.

In match 2 of the day, the fans then had to defeat the top European team G2 esports against Samsung Galaxy watch.

With Immortals then the first NA team had its appearance. The US team lost to, as expected Longzhu Gaming.  Longzhu Gaming is considered one of the main favorites of the tournament after winning the LCK season final over SKT T1.

Had the most balanced game up to this point Fnatic (EU) and GIGABYTE Marines (Vietnam). Although it was quite short at 24 minutes, there was constant back and forth and tight decisions. In the end, the Marines won the encounter.

The reigning League of Legends world champions SKT T1 win their first match

The penultimate match of the day was played by the three-time world champions SK telecom T1 (South Korea) against Cloud 9 (N / A). After the weakness of SKT T1 in the last LCK season and the defeat in the final against Longzhu Gaming, it was important for the Korean team to get off to a good start in the tournament. Cloud 9 was not impressed by this and kept up well up to the 20 minute mark.

At this point the Korean team turned to star players Faker clearly on the speed screw and secured the 2nd dragon and the Baron in just 22 minutes. After that it quickly came to an end and after 27 minutes the Cloud 9 Nexus fell.

At the end of the day stood each other Edward Gaming (China) and ahq e-sports club (opposite. The Chinese powerhouse Edward Gaming had to admit defeat to the Taiwanese team.

Day 2 of the group stage will take place tomorrow, Friday, October 6th, from 9 a.m. It will be in the first match NA Team TSM (Team SoloMid) as the last western team to start the tournament and compete against the Flash Wolves from Taiwan.
