League of Legends founder

It has been 11 years since Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill and Brandon “Ryze” Beck Riot Games founded and with League of Legends created one of the most successful games of all time. Riot is now a huge company with 20 offices around the world and 2,500 employees. No wonder that the day-to-day work for the company founders is more filled with administrative tasks than with developing games.

In order to be able to put more time into development again, Merril and Beck can be replaced. With immediate effect, Dylan Jadeja (CFO), Scott Gelb (CTO) and Nicolo Laurent (President) will manage the company and make all company-technical decisions.

League of Legends with new leadership

So Beck and Merill will go back to their calling and develop games and maybe finally justify the S in Riot Games. This has now become a running gag, as Riot Games only has one game on the market, League of Legends. In contrast, the game suggestsS. (Plural) that it would have a wider range.

Of course, it's no wonder Riot is focused on League of Legends. More than 120 million Players and a huge esports scene (right now the 7th world championship with more than 2 million US dollars in prize money) speak for themselves.

It is not yet known which projects the 2 Riot founders want to work on. Rumors of a Fighting Game, such as: Street Fighter or Tekken are currently making the rounds. Some time ago Riot bought a game developer who was working on such a fighting game. The focus was on easier accessibility. So you shouldn't have to memorize a 7 page list of combos and 28 different key assignments.

If you consider that League of Legends also as a more accessible variant Dota that would make perfect sense. With 138 LoL Champions you would also have a gigantic number of possible fighters and the possibility to use the fan favorites in a new game.
