Ghost Recon Wildlands - New sales records

Ghost Recon Wildlands

With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, developer Ubisoft sets new sales records for the release week.

Just a week after Horizon Zero Dawn overthrew previous record holder Tom Clancy's The Division, Ubisoft is taking the title back. Ghost Recon Wildlands tops the sales charts this week, making it the top-selling game in the first week.

The Division, released a year ago on March 8, 2016, still holds the title for best sales in the first quarter.

Third place is surprisingly not Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but Lego Worlds from Warner Bros. Interactive. Zelda falls to 4th place ahead of GTA V.

Newcomers can be found in 6th place Nier: Automata, which we covered last week. The action RPG published by Square Enix is currently only available for consoles and will be released on March 17th for PC.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands - # 1 on the sales chart

The front runner Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is the 10th game in the Ghost Recon series and the first with an open world environment. Ghost Recon Wildlands is set in Bolivia in 2019, an influential drug cartel has made the country politically unstable and has become the largest cocaine producer in the world. When the conflict with the USA escalated to the point of bomb attacks on US embassies, the US government sent the elite team Ghosts. Their goal is to smash the drug cartel and expose the corruption in the Bolivian government.

The player controls one of the ghosts from a third person perspective and can freely explore the country between the missions. You also maintain relationships with the local population, officials or rebels. The behavior has consequences and influences how you achieve your goals. The open world also gives you more options for approaching the objects. From a selection of vehicles such as motorcycles, beach buggies or helicopters, you can choose the right one for the respective situation. Due to the day / night change in the game, the player must pay attention to the visibility conditions and plan accordingly.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands was released on March 7th for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
