Fortnite developers present the state of development and plans for the future

Shortly before the carnival weekend, the Fortnite developers presented the current status of the game in a blog. The server / patch problems are also discussed and what Epic would like to do about it.

Last Sunday, Epic got over 3.4 million players are happy, but this had quite serious effects on the server and caused lag and crashes. Similar to the competitor Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, the game is growing faster than the developers and the infrastructure can keep up due to the immense number of players. On the one hand, of course, a blessing when so many players jump into the fight and have fun, on the other hand, players annoyed by lags are quickly driven away.

So the efforts to keep the game running stably are the focus of the Fortnite developers. Below is a brief overview of the points addressed:

  • Continuous optimization: Shorter loading times & faster entry into Battle Royale matches are the key words here. To this end, we are working on a new code for loading the world.
  • Consoles FPS: The 60 Hz mode for PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X should come this month and is specially optimized for each console.
  • Improved game search

Time-limited modes
