The one from Blizzard for today Heroes of the Storm published patch, mainly changes the basic armor of our heroes and adjusts the experience for destroyed forts and towers.
Heroes of the Storm - developers remove basic armor
Heroes of the Storm is a very visual game, most status effects, weaknesses, buffs etc. can be recognized directly from the hero with a little practice. Because a value like Basic armor can hardly be represented properly, the developers decided to remove it at this point. Short term Effects that ensure increased armor and are clearly indicated by a visual effect are retained.
Armor
- Some heroes have had their basic armor removed. Details on the changes to individual heroes can be found below.
Developer comment: We've experimented with basic armor on some of our heroes for a while. But we decided to leave them out for now. We found that the basic armor was difficult to visualize. Ultimately, it turned out to be a largely invisible benefit that didn't have too much of an impact on gameplay. In the future, we would like to make armor and other mechanics against certain types of damage and heroes more interesting when they are tied to game mechanics. So we're removing the heroes' basic armor. But we still like the concept of armor, which is tied to a specific time window or is clearly visible on the hero during its duration. Good examples of this include worgen-shaped gray mane and Cho'gall's ogre skin.
The second important point in the patch is adjustments to the Experiencewho destroyed it for Forts, towers and fortresses gives. With this, Blizzard would like to weaken the typical snowball effect. Normally, the faster team receives several through the destruction of the first tower and thus receives a very strong experience advantage. Since strategic goals such as healing wells were mostly destroyed at this point, there was a double reward: Experience and strategic advantages on the map.
This could then have a snowball effect on the whole game. To avoid this, the effect is softened a little.
Heroes of the Storm - The team explains the building changes
- Experience gained from destroying the towers of forts has been reduced from 500 to 250.
- Experience gained from destroying forts has been increased from 1,000 to 1,200.
- Experience gained from destroying fortresses has been increased from 1,650 to 2,050.
- Towers of doom
- Experience gained from destroying the towers of forts has been reduced from 500 to 250.
- Experience gained from destroying forts has been increased from 1,100 to 1,200.
- Experience gained from destroying strongholds increased from 1,900 to 2,050.
- Note: The forts of the Towers of Doom turn into fortresses when the tunnels open, after about 12 minutes of play.
Developer comment: We're reducing the experience by destroying the outer towers and dividing it among other buildings so that teams stay roughly on the same level for a little longer. We want to continue to reward good moves. However, the team that accomplishes the first objective can often destroy many of the opposing team's outer buildings as well. This not only brought a strategic advantage (healing wells are destroyed, defense systems offer less security), it also gives the superior team an enormous head start. This usually leads that team to level 10 ahead of their opponents, which increases the lead immensely. We'd like to avoid having a team take a clear lead that early in the game. Instead, superior teams should have to assert themselves over a longer period of time.
