One of the great hopes of the Metroidvania genre is for many fans Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The game is developed by Koji Igarashi, practically one of the founders of the genre, responsible for the timeless classic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was responsible. No wonder that the Kickstarter campaign was completed in record time and all possible stretch goals were achieved.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night developers fulfill Stretchgoal

One of those stretch goals was an 8-bit retro game called Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, which was presented today in a YouTube video.

Game Director Igarashi personally introduced the offshoot, which is free for supporters of the Kickstarter campaign. So whoever contributed to crowdfunding at the time should check their emails or Kickstarter account in the next week. Because already on Curse of the Moon will be released on May 24th and the activation codes for supporters should already be on their way.

Anyone who thinks that the Curse of the Moon is a two-minute project that has been slapped around will be pleasantly surprised. The game offers several playable characters with different skills. The aim of the game is to defeat a powerful one demon who - how could it be otherwise - has set up camp in a gloomy castle. The main character Zangetsu meets several companions on his journey, who open up different paths with their unique abilities.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will be released on May 24th, 2018 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Ninento Switch, Nintendo 3Ds, Xbox one and via Steam on PC. The game is free for supporters of the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter campaign, for everyone else it costs € 9.99.
