In an interview, the developers of Bungie have revealed new details about Destiny 2 reveal. The background story and how it was told, or rather not told, in Destiny 1 was one of the recurring points of criticism from fans. It's no wonder that a lot of emphasis is now being placed on the story for part 2.

Destiny 2 - puts more emphasis on history

Since the familiar faces from Destiny suddenly find each other without the "light" and the special powers, there is an opportunity to show how the characters deal with the new world around them. Instead of sitting safely in the Guardians' tower and hiding behind all the technical gadgets, they have to find themselves anew and learn again what it means to be a Guardian.

In Destiny 1, according to Jason Harris (Story Director) and Matthew Ward (Cinematic Director), the story was, so to speak, the basis. The cornerstones were set, a lot of questions asked but fewer answered. With the second part everything should be deepened and the story should again focus more on the hiker and provide new information.

Thanks to the diverse feedback on Destiny 1, Bungie is investing a lot more time this time in so-called "world building", i.e. details of the world and inhabitants, backgrounds and sidelights that are supposed to tell additional stories about the world.

Ideally, they want the "complaints" on social media platforms like Reddit to be so that people are too busy. Something that you normally only hear about gigantic RPG worlds like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim or The Witcher 3. In these games the fans could lose themselves for weeks and months and have hours of fun with additional quests and stories.

So ambitious goals of the Destiny 2 developers, whether they will be achieved, we will see from September 6th when Destiny 2 is released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The date for the Windows version is October 24th.
