When the news about a PC version of Destiny 2 was released, the euphoria was great, but it was clouded shortly after when it was announced that the PC version would be developed by an external studio. For many players, this gave the impression that the PC version would not get enough attention from developer Bungie.
Bad console ports were unfortunately not uncommon in the past. PC gamers had to live with the tiny resolutions for PC conditions, graphics were adopted 1: 1 instead of being adjusted for the stronger possibilities and the FPS were often capped to 30 (30 FPS is the standard on consoles). Console ports were also often noticed because of strange keyboard layouts and a lack of possibility to change them. This forced you to buy a gamepad or you had to press cryptic strings in the middle of a boss fight to trigger the desired action.
Destiny 2 - PC version with sophisticated graphics options
So all justified fears expressed by the community. But luckily you can give the all-clear. In the course of the E3 presentations, the option menus for PC could also be seen.
And at first glance they leave little to be desired. A completely freely assignable keyboard and very detailed settings for the graphics, including:
- Texture anisotropy
- Ambient occlusion
- Motion blur
- Anti-aliasing
- Texture Quality
- Foliage detail
- Environment detail
- Character detail
- Shadow Quality
- Depth of Field
- Foliage Shadows
- Lightning shading detail
- Local light details
- Wind impulses
There are also some new options that were not included in the last 4K resolution screenshots. So I can say with a clear conscience that the PC version is in good hands and that the bad examples of the past are considered a daunting example. Since Blizzard included Destiny 2 as the first non-Blizzard game in their launcher and distributes it, you can see the reason for an excellent PC implementation there too.
Destiny 2 will be released on September 6 for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version should be available from October 24th. All versions can already be pre-ordered and offer pre-order bonuses.
