The multiplayer mode in the new Fallout 76 causes a stir, Game Director Todd Howard announced that there will be no crossplay. Because similar to Fortnite prevents Sony from freely linking different platforms.
Sony puts Fallout 76 crossplay obstacles in the way
As Howard announced in an interview, the studio would have liked to have crossed platform games for the first multiplay offshoot in the series. However, there are some hurdles when implementing such plans: "Sony is not as helpful as everyone would like it to be."
In the recent past, Sony has received negative attention on this subject. At the Battle Royale Shooter Fortnite the PlayStation 4 manufacturer prevents the interaction with Switch players. PC / Xbox players can play together with PlayStation 4, but Sony refuses to connect to the switch. In the case of Fortnite, it went a step further. The player accounts that are with Fortnite Publisher Epicgames can no longer be used on Nintendo Switch once they have been used for playing on PS4 (and vice versa).
This caused so much negative publicity that, according to the latest statements, Sony is at least thinking again about the topic and the last word has not yet been spoken. If the feedback from the fan base regarding Fallout 76 is just as great, it will hopefully give Sony further food for thought.
