Those who are said to be dead live longer and longer, this wisdom could probably also apply to Ubisofts For Honor apply, as has now been announced, the game has already gone 7.5 million times sold. Approx. 1 million players are active per month.
The action combat game in which you slip into the role of a samurai, viking or knight, among other things, had its ups and downs. Before the release as THE new hit game “hyped”, the initial enthusiasm quickly turned into disappointment. Problems like missing servers made the online PvP mode annoying.
For Honor - Changes to the battle system
The combat system with extensive options for attacks, blocks and parries was cracked after a short time. Since it is very easy to counter an attack and thereby land a devastating counterattack, 1 on 1 duels soon mutated into one Staring competition. Whoever lost patience first and attacked, usually lost the match. The game was soon declared dead by loud fans on social media platforms such as Reddit.
However, Ubisoft seems to have turned the corner with continuous updates and patches. Many new features have been implemented and the upcoming patch will bring dedicated servers. In other words, servers that are specially available for the multiplayer function and are intended to solve different latencies and other problems.
The highlights of the upcoming update:
- Revised tutorial
- Training terrain / mode
- Dedicated server
- New cards
- A first rebalancing of the heroes
- New ways to customize your character
The For Honor developers also tackle the combat problems described above. Changes to the block and parry system should make the fights more active and action-packed again. Initial reports from beta players say that the days of staring are pretty much over and that exciting brawls can be looked forward to again.
The announced player numbers leave little doubt that Ubisoft seems to be on the right track. It also shows that it represents the loudest voices on social media platforms, not necessarily the masses.
The next patch will be released on February 15th, the multiplayer servers should go online on the 19th.
