Kingdom Hearts 3

At the D23 fair, the Game Director of Kingdom Hearts 3, Tetsuya Nomura, revealed some new details about the story and the main characters. In addition to the trailer, which shows our heroes in the Toy Story universe, a previously secret second playable character has been announced.

Kingdom Hearts 3 - No Switch version planned at the moment

Combat system: The Kingdom Hearts typical fighting style is, as shown in all previous trailers, not changed or changed. It seems much more chaotic and fun than in its predecessors. For a change, each world will have a unique mechanism, for example Sora can control giant robots in the Toy Story world.

Second playable character: Sora, known from previous games in the series, is of course the main character. In addition, Kingdom Hearts 3 offers us another playable character, whose identity remains secret for the time being.

Party system: The group size has changed compared to previous games. Up to 5 characters can be in our party, so Sora + 4 more from the popular supporting characters such as Goofy, Woody, Donald or Buzz Lightyear.

The rumors about one Switch implementation however, have not been confirmed and were more likely wishful thinking from the community. The 100% team is concentrating on the Playstation 4 version and the later Xbox One version. When it comes to Xbox One and a possible Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 2.5 Remix version, Nomura held back. The demand in Japan for such a version would be rather low and the team does not want to announce any further Kingdom Hearts projects at the moment.

Release date:

According to the trailer, it should finally be ready in 2018. Game Director Nomura explained that the long development time wasn't due to serious problems, it just took so long. Other reasons for the delays were beyond the control of the team, such as the decision to switch to Unreal Engine 4.

Part 2 of the series was released 10 years ago, let's keep our fingers crossed that we can get our hands on Kingdom Hearts 3 as soon as possible.
