The end of an era: League of Legends developer Riot is sending the old game client into retirement. From now on LoL can only be played with the improved new one.
In the last few months, players still had the choice between the old client and the new one. If you didn't want to change yet, you just didn't have to update. The times are now unfortunately over, but let's not say unfortunately. The new client offers many improvements and is significantly more stable than its predecessor.
The good old heirloom, on the other hand, is allowed to join the AOL CDs, Geocities pages and relics like Atari and Amiga computers. This is where the milestones in history spend their well-deserved retirement.
To mark the launch of the new client, which many are already using, Riot has published a video with 12 useful tips. Hopefully this will make getting used to it easier for those switching.
12 tips for the new League of Legends client
- Login is possible while the client is still updating.
- Patch and update notes are now directly visible in the client.
- Filters for mobile & offline friends.
- The chat window can now be moved and its size can be changed.
- Low-spec mode, a special mode for weaker computers.
- In-game settings such as keybindings can now be edited directly in the client.
- Practice tool, in this sandbox mode you can try as much as you want without being disturbed.
- Group invites, you can simply drag people from your friends list to invite.
- Rune pages can now be moved and rearranged!
- With Shift + click you can add 9 runes at once
- Additional statistics after the game.
- Replays! Yes, they really and truly arrived and are working.
Those are some useful features and my personal favorite is in the loading screen, at the bottom right, the rotating little circle. Since the old client crashed several times and you then asked yourself whether only one player was loading forever, or whether it was a crash and you had to restart. These questions are also a thing of the past. As long as the icon rotates, everything is fine.
In addition, Riot announces the return of the item set tool with which you could create your own templates. The tool is to be brought to the public test server with patch 7.10 and tested there.
