Although SKT was considered the favorite, the team had shown weaknesses. In the group phase and the knockout rounds, there was a lack of the usual sovereignty and the ease with which the opponents were simply swept away in previous world championships. Without the outstanding achievements of SKT Midlaner Faker, the team would have probably already failed to reach the finals.
Despite, or perhaps because of, these difficulties, the saying went around the scene: "10 players chase the Nexus for 40 minutes and in the end SKT T1 wins!"

Only Samsung Galaxy stood between SKT and the title and the records. The team which is already the Korean super team on the way to the final Longzshu Gaming Defeated 3-0, had his own legend in mind. After losing in the final of last year's League of Legends World Championship against SKT T1, the players were eager to take revenge.
And they should get this ... SKT already lost the first game with 7 deaths and 0 counter kills.
Game 2 was a bit tighter, but still went to Samsung and Game 3 was a bitter 40 minute battle. With both teams on par and whose decision was really close. That decision was in Samsung Galaxy's favor and the dream for SKT was over.
So much for team Samsung glad that they got their revenge. It hurt so much to see the otherwise stoic, calm Faker devastated. Even the winning team could be seen shaking hands that they had a trace of pity for this extraordinary player who really gave every game 200% for his team in this World Cup.
"Legends never die" At least one legend died that day, but who knows? Maybe it's just the beginning of a new legendary story in which Faker and SKT come back to win 3 world championships again. Michael Jordan could be the perfect role model with his 6 NBA titles.
