More and more information is known about the third and final part of Crystal Dynamics Lara Croft series: Shadow of the Tomb Raider. One detail that might disappoint fans is what the Game Director said Dan Bisson to the legendary double pistols.
In the PlayStation 1 Back in the days of Tomb Raider, Lara could almost always be seen with 2 pistols at the same time and how she was doing away with her opponents with both hands. Fans of the "new" parts of Tomb Raider already missed this ability in the first 2 games and pestered the developers with questions about it. In an interview, Bisson now clears up all rumors on the subject:
Lara Croft's iconic weapon remains that Bow.
Quote from the interview with Xbox Official Magazine:
“No. I don't want that. For us this is her defining moment. We're not going to put her in shorts with double-pistols, wearing a bikini; that's not what this is. It's because the twin pistols have an iconic thing about them. For this trilogy - not saying anything about later on, I don't know about the future titles - but for this trilogy, the bow is still her signature weapon. "
Shadow of the Tomb Raider - twin pistols a milestone in the series
The moment when Lara slips into her tight outfit and the Twin pistols is one of the milestones of the series and these (that means the 3 new parts) are not about it. In the future, this step may well be shown later, but at least for this trilogy, the bow will remain their standard weapon.
The reboot of the cult series was an enormous success and showed a young Lara setting out on one of her first expeditions (Tomb Raider 2013) And only slowly discovered the conspiracy behind the death of her father and the secret organization Trinity (Rise of the Tomb Raider 2016).
Shadow of the Tomb Raider marks the end of this trilogy, but is still about a relatively "young" Lara Croft.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
