Summer is here and the Speedrun Marathon Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is just around the corner. Today there was an overview of the scheduled games and the schedule.
Summer Games Done Quick 2018
In just under 2 months, hundreds of speed runners will meet again in the USA and hundreds of thousands of fans will tune in via livestream. It's not just about chasing records and creating games as quickly as possible, but also about a good cause. In this case, Summer Games Done Quick collects for the international organization Doctors Without Borders.
If you don't know the principle yet: SGDQ shows the best Speed runner the world, i.e. players who create their selected game in record time. There are different categories with or without glitches, i.e. exploiting bugs or 100% versus Any %. For example Dark Souls 2 100% contains all bosses, as well as all bosses from the 3 DLCs.
There are also all sorts of "crazy" categories, such as only play with one hand or 2 players on one controller, as well as races in which 2 speed runners compete in parallel in the same game. Viewers can donate for various bonus goals or complete bonus games. There is the demonstration of special glitches or special gags.
The donations are overwhelming every year. Last year Summer Games Done Quick collects the Record sum of over $ 1.7 million. This combines the fun of games and the opportunity to do something good.
