The game scheduled for April We Happy Few will be postponed until summer, the developers announced in a video message today. They also gave an insight into the status of the development, the reasons for the postponement and show the 2nd main character Sally.
We Happy Few - A happy world full of drugs
The game is actually finished, but there is still a little fine-tuning and additional content missing. The feedback from the Early Access on Steam, confirmed that the current state of story and content needs to be improved a bit. Accordingly, the publication will be postponed to summer 2018.
Just the beginning of the story around Arthur, one of the main characters, has yet to be worked out so that she can keep up with the rest of the game. At the end of the video we also see a short scene from the perspective of Sally the 2nd protagonist. There should be a total of 3 playable characters in the finished game.
The history of We Happy Few is set in an alternative England where adaptation is key to survival. Those who step out of line and don't fit into the crowd by using drugs are hunted down pretty quickly. In terms of time, the environment is based on England around 1960, but is built in a retro-futuristic style. The players slip into 3 different characters who explore the events in Wellington Wells and experience them from their own point of view.
But even without the 3 different protagonists, no game should be like the other. Thanks to the procedurally generated world, there should be variety for several rounds.
As always, the developer video can be found at the beginning of the article.
