The server and WLAN capacities of the site were so overwhelmed that at times nothing worked. Many of the players came especially for the special monsters. The mood was therefore pretty much in the basement.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, the reception for Niantic boss John Hanke was when he took the stage and apologized for the problems. A bottle even flew onto the stage, but luckily it didn&#039;t hit anyone. The apology and admission that the problems are on Niantic&#039;s side fell on deaf ears. Only during the day, when the problems were resolved and compensation for the tickets was promised, did the mood calm down.<\/p>\n<h2>Pok\u00e9mon Go game currency as compensation<\/h2>\n<p>As compensation, Niantic is offering all visitors 100 US dollars in the form of the Pok\u00e9mon Go in-game currency, Pokecoins. All players also get the previously unavailable Pok\u00e9mon Lugia. This announcement appeased at least some of the fans.<\/p>\n<p>Still quite a bust and not a good publicity for Pok\u00e9mon Go and Niantic. Nintendo&#039;s flagship in the mobile market is a huge phenomenon, the app has been downloaded more than 750 million times since it was launched and the current number of players is still a gigantic 60 million players.
