Open - world games that degenerate into a marathon running simulator are not very fun and do not motivate you to explore the world and its history. Therefore, the players in Destiny 2 should be entertained through a variety of different missions:

Destiny 2 - adventures for all tastes

Public events:

These will be significantly more dynamic than in the predecessor. The first change is the placement, instead of always appearing in the same place, the player can stumble across it in different, random locations. The second change is the possibility of the event in heroic mode to start. This means that there are considerably stronger versions of the opponents and bosses, and the goals for success are then also more difficult to achieve. Of course, there will be extra rewards for completing such an "extra hard" version. According to the developers, Destiny 2 also contains a significantly larger number of possible public events in order to avoid repetitions.

Adventure / Adventures:

These are small, self-contained story missions that refer to the area or the main mission that brought the player to that area. These side missions can easily be found and accepted when passing through.

Lost Sectors:

If the player stumbles over a symbol painted on a wall, one of them is lost sectors near. The exact entrance has yet to be found and some entrances are quite hidden. Similar to the hidden tombs in the newer Tomb Raider games. The sectors are not simple rooms with a treasure chest, but can be huge tunnel systems or something similar. While researching you will find a boss who will release a treasure chest with rewards after his death.

Weltquests / World Quests:

Unlike the small adventures, the world quests should be extensive stories. In the video the quest revolves around the new NPC Failsafe and describes the background of the crashed spaceship and what happened to its crew.

World quests are only unlocked after the main campaign has been completed.

Landing points / exploration:

Each target should have several landing points, which are not all directly accessible. When you arrive in a new area, the focus is on exploring the unknown. Over time, the players find more and more landing points and thus reach new areas with further quests, etc. You can also stumble across an area that is clearly too high in the level and therefore a faster retreat. Later, with more experience and equipment, you can come back and explore these areas.

Flashpoints:

These represent weekly activities in the open world. Each week a destination is marked and public events completed there then count towards the progress of the Flashpoint. This then activates additional bosses and rewards and other activities that the developers did not want to reveal.

Cayde will also sell treasure maps for the respective Flashpoint destination.

So no Destiny 2 player can complain about boredom. The various events offer exciting battles and hours of activity, as well as a little adventure in between.

Destiny 2 will be released on September 6th for Xbox One and Playstation 4, the PC version will follow a few weeks later on October 24th.

In a video with IGN, the developers of Destiny 2 have revealed details about missions, adventures, events and world quests.
