The trailer, which is only 61 seconds long, presents the remake of Secret of Mana for the Playstation 4, PS Vita and even on PC via Steam.

The insights into the game have only been minimal so far, but the characteristic "sword from the stone" scene at the beginning causes shivers of nostalgia for older students. Like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana is one of the timeless classics of the early console era. The game is also an integral part of Speedrun Marathons such as Summer Games Done Quick.

Secret of Mana - A timeless classic

If you wanted to play Secret of Mana on the PC you unfortunately had to use emulators, with the remake and the Steam version this is a thing of the past.

The special thing about the JRPG, published in 1993, was the multiplayer option. With a suitable adapter, up to 3 players could play at the same time. Fittingly, there were 3 main characters, so that each could be taken over by an extra player. The gameplay reminded a little of Zelda, you ran around in a top view and could fight the monsters running around with your sword.

The remake version of Secret of Mana offers a complete overhaul of the graphics, English voice output and of course again the co-op mode. There is a small restriction, only the PS Vita version will offer the local multiplayer mode. So if you want to play Secret of Mana with friends on the couch, like in the good old days, you have to use this version.

The release date has been announced for North America on February 15, 2018, and hopefully this should also be the date for Europe. At least the PC version on Steam should be available worldwide on the same day. The Japanese version is priced at 4,800 yen, which would be around € 40.

Ein kurzer Trailer hat heute für ziemliche Begeisterungsstürme in der Community gesorgt.
