No new Diablo 3 announcements for the foreseeable future<\/h2>\n

After only the relatively small one last year Necromancer DLC<\/strong> appeared, fans were hoping for a possible Diablo 4 announcement. Even before Blizzcon 2016, there were theories as to whether it wasn't time for a successor.<\/p>\n

Diablo 3 still receives regular updates at the beginning of each new one season<\/strong>, but is getting on in years. After all, 5 years have passed since the release in 2012. In the meantime there were Reaper of Souls<\/strong> Extension, but there has been a long pause since then. Competition games like Path of Exile<\/strong> <\/a>have received a lot of new content in the meantime.<\/p>\n

The hunger for new content, but also the mini DLC with the summoner class could not satisfy. The forums are regularly full of suggestions and speculation about a possible Diablo 4 or another major expansion.<\/p>\n

Any hope of such announcements during Blizzcon 2017 has died. Nonetheless, there is also a goodie for Diablo 3 players this year for visitors to Blizzcon or buyers of virtual tickets.<\/p>\n

Hey everyone,<\/em><\/p>\n

BlizzCon draws near, and we wanted to give you an update about Diablo's presence at the show. Last year at BlizzCon, we kicked off Diablo's 20th anniversary by announcing the old-school cathedral dungeon (if you missed that the first time around, it's coming back in January) and unveiling Rise of the Necromancer. This year, we want to give you a heads-up that while Diablo will be on the show floor, we won't be making any new Diablo announcements. There will be a time for that at some point in the future, but that time is not now.<\/em><\/p>\n

However, in addition to the special BlizzCon Diablo III in-game reward, we'll also have Diablo panels for attendees and Virtual Ticket holders, and, as always, we look forward to a weekend filled with fun and revelry with the heroes who call Sanctuary home.<\/em><\/p>\n

Patch 2.6.1 is on the horizon. Looking beyond that, we're hard at work on the future of Diablo and exploring what's next for the franchise. Please be patient. Our passion for Sanctuary burns as bright as the High Heavens and as hot as the Burning Hells \u2014 and we're excited to hunker down and get working!<\/em><\/p>\n
