The controversy about loot boxes and full price games with curled content has Star Wars: Battlefront 2 a new subject for discussion. As the players have calculated in the meantime, it will take about 40 hours of game time to unlock a hero.<\/p>\n

The game, which is already playable in Origin Access, not only has the full purchase price + loot boxes that give playful advantages. On the other hand, the balance seems to come down to the fact that you have to play the game as a full-time job if you want to do without the loot boxes.<\/p>\n

As the Reddit user TheHooterPotato has calculated, there are 40 hours of game time to unlock just one of the heroes. In this Reddit thread<\/a> the exact numbers can be found.<\/p>\n

The Indignation in the community <\/a>is justifiably enormous: \u201cSeriously? I paid 80$ to have Vader locked? "-" Seriously? I pay 80$ for the game and then (Darth) Vader has to be unlocked extra? \u201d.<\/p>\n

This thread even has an official answer from the EACommunityTeams<\/strong> (Electronic Arts is the publisher of StarWars: Battlefront 2). But this only caused more upset:<\/p>\n

So everything is fine. In order to give the players a feeling of pride, the values are chosen so that it takes some time to unlock everything.<\/p>\n

Cynics would now write that everything is fine as long as you view the game as a full-time job or buy loot boxes. And there are quite a few such voices in the community. Whether enough players will be put off by such business practices to cancel their pre-orders. Or maybe giving up the game entirely remains to be seen. In any case, this would be the best way to show the publisher that the increasingly rampant rip-off practices are not welcome.<\/p>\n
