PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Patch against cheaters

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

As part of the 8th week patch for PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, the developers continue to take action against cheaters.

After the successful charity tournament earlier this month, the developers took a well-deserved break. The patch has now been published on the new test server and already installed on the live servers one day later.

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS takes action against the latency cheats

A particular focus in this patch was on measures for lag switches. This is how hacks / cheats are called that exploit an artificial increase in their own latency. During this increased latency, the players had an unfair advantage because their actions were only executed with a delay on the server, leaving the opponent with no opportunity to defend themselves.

A particularly nasty variant was to attack players on the lobby island. Normally, players are all immune to damage there, due to the artificial latency the server registered the damage, but only after a delay. This led to the player suddenly being knocked unconscious in the plane and falling helplessly.

As a countermeasure, the game freezes players from a certain ping (latency to the server) and they can no longer perform any actions. This should prevent the majority of these exploits. At the same time, flash grenades have been removed from PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS for the time being to prevent game crashes. As soon as the corresponding bug has been fixed, they will be available again.
