Who expected that SKT T1 would win the final of the League of Legends tournament MSI half asleep was pleasantly surprised. The European G2 esports Team, not only held against it, but was in the lead in game 1 for a long time and was able to win game 2.

League of Legends Mid Season Invitational Finals

The underdog's tactics seemed clear: the SKT Midlaner and League of Legends icon Faker, as the main objective and never let it come into play. This plan worked for the first time, with repeated ganks from Jungler Trick and a confidently played Jayce for G2 Midlaner Perkz, they were able to record 4 kills on Faker. Faker 0/4 in the back with Cassiopeia, the eSports scene has rarely seen that. But this focus on the mid lane ensured that SKT Jungler could kill the first Infernal Drake solo undisturbed and secure the buff for his team.

This is one of the great things about SKT, if the pressure is too strong in one area, or if someone has a bad game, the rest of the players step forward and win elsewhere. This balance of the team, which stands and falls not only with star player Faker, coupled with the experience, ensured that they won the first game anyway. Better planned and executed team fights not only kept the game open, but also continuously converted the deficit into a lead and thus victory.

The European comeback in game 2

Game 2 looked similar at the beginning, G2 won in all lanes and was 5-1 ahead. Just like in Game 1, SKT started looking for the group fights in order to regain control. A long 5 versus 5 fight in Bot Lane ended with a failed tower dive by SKT. Team G2 played this fight really well, held themselves in a good position between their towers and gave SKT no clear chance. G2 Toplaner Expect shone here with its strong gangplank.

G2 was able to keep the advantages gained and even convert them into a victory.

SKT puts an end to fun

In games 3 and 4 you could clearly see that SKT was stepping up a gear, Faker with Ahri & LeBlanc showed why he was considered the world's best League of Legends player. After G2 Jungler Trick chose Olaf in game 3 and couldn't shine (2-4-3 kills deaths assists). His SKT counterpart Peanut showed him how to do it right in game 4 with 9-0-6 KDA on Olaf.

Despite fierce resistance, Team SKT won both games and won the title of the with a final score of 3: 1 Mid Season Invitational 2017 Champion.

SKT Wolf was able to secure the title of most valuable player -MVP-, who showed a consistently excellent performance in all games.

The Korean dominance of the last 2 years continues and with 3 world championship titles and 2 MSI titles, SKT in particular has secured a place in the history books. Nonetheless, one notices how the increasing international tournaments ensure that the other regions catch up. The best teams of all regions can definitely win games against Korea and it is no longer a 200-0 dominance.

For the 2017 World Championship, which will take place after the LCS summer split, we can look forward to even tighter results and high-quality arguments.
