Far Cry 5 - Hope County, Montana there's a new sheriff in town

After Far Cry 4 landed us on a tropical island, part 5 is set in the rather down-to-earth US state of Montana. The fictional one Hope County District is ruled by a doomsday cult known as Eden's Gate. At their head is the cult leader Joseph Seed with his siblings, we must organize the resistance against him. As a simple deputy without outside help, it is up to us how we get the population on our side. Thanks to the open world structure of Far Cry 5, there is no direct solution. The player has to decide for himself and his character how he proceeds and how he develops.

A new cooperation mode allows us to take up the fight even in pairs. In addition to the shooter arsenal known from its predecessors, we also have new murderous instruments at our disposal. Among them, the melee weapons are rather unusual examples: pitchforks and sledgehammers, to name just two examples.

Of course, you can simply run over your opponents with one of the many vehicles and turn them off. As a special new ability, the taming of wild animals should be added, which can then be hounded on the cultists.

With the vehicles we are not limited to 4 wheels, according to the developer statements, the budding sheriff can also grab a propeller machine and blow it up.

Map editor included

Thanks to the announced map editor, there will also be mods for Far Cry 5, so that players can create their own battlefields and scenarios. As a result, the vast open world of Montana will always have new content to offer. Since the details of the editor's capabilities are not yet known, one has to wait and see whether an active modder scene will form around the title.

To conclude, has Ubisoft has released another video with Executive Producer and Creative Director Dan Hay. In this, Hay tells some more details and details and how the idea for the Montana scenario developed.

Far Cry 5 will be released on February 27, 2018 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
