Heroes of the Storm developer Blizzard has given an insight into the upcoming patch. The programmers primarily focused on improving the UI.
The first new feature is the presentation of the group window, which is already known from replays or tournament streams. This should ensure that an overview is maintained even during hectic team fights and that resuscitation timers or selected heroic abilities are visible at a glance.
In addition, life and mana bars were added, as well as the cooldown for heroic abilities.
Am I so dangerous or is my flying carpet on fire?
The previous system for killstreaks in which flame effects consumed the player's name has also been changed. To improve clarity, you can now find the effects on the hero portrait in the group window, on the Statistics tab and on your own hero portrait. Of course, only if you are very dangerous and cannot be stopped.
In addition, a kill feed on the left edge of the screen shows more precisely which hero has just promoted whom to the afterlife. This also enables a better chronological overview after a team fight.
Of course, Blizzard wouldn't be Blizzard if they only did something halfway. That's why they took care of the other UI elements. Many advertisements have been streamlined and made clearer. With this, the Heroes of the Storm developers are following their plans to reduce the visual overload, which is not uncommon in hectic 5 versus 5 games.
The full patch preview can be found on the official Blizzard Heroes of the Storm page.
