The developers of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS have announced the next leaderboard reset in their update today. On August 1st the ranking will be deleted and a new season will start.
As the end of Early Access is slowly approaching, the developers are testing possible adjustments to the ELO ranking system. Of course, the monthly reset that is currently planned must also be tried out.
The process of the leaderboard reset in PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS
The process will be as follows:
On July 31, 2:00 a.m. UTC, the recording of ranked matches will stop and all games started after this time will no longer count towards the rankings. The server is then in "UNRANKED" mode for 24 hours, during which time no matches are recorded. The next season starts on August 1st at 2:00 a.m. UTC on the leaderboards. All data of the matches are then recorded for the new season.
Even if the period of just one month per season may seem a bit short, such relatively short periods of time are necessary at least when testing the ranking lists and ELO system. This is the only way for developers to quickly obtain the relevant data and make any adjustments.
If you are now concerned that the previous season data will be lost, you can rest assured. Even if the system for displaying the past ranking season is missing at the moment, the developers at Bluehole still save all data. As soon as a match history has been implemented, you can see all past data there.
If that's all too theoretical for you, you can also look forward to some practice at this point: Yesterday, the next weapon for PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS was shown on Twitter, which is to come with the monthly patch in the following week. The Mk14 EBR will be the newest toy on the battlefield:
