Hearthstone Card Package Changes Live

Hearthstone

With a small surprise patch, the developers at Blizzard uploaded the planned changes to the Hearthstone card packages to the live server tonight. Normally, Blizzard is known for a rather leisurely pace “It's done when it's done”, so this news is all the more gratifying.

Hearthstone - Improvements to the card packs

As a result, you can now no longer receive duplicate legendary cards when opening card packs. It doesn't matter whether you have the normal or gold version. Only when you have all of the legendary cards in a set such as “Journey to Un'Goro” in your collection is there a possibility of a duplicate.

Another change is that you can find a maximum of 2x the same card in a card pack. These improvements should actually only come with the release of the next Hearthstone expansion "Knights of the Frost Throne", but were preferred by Blizzard.

Probably the developers noticed that most of the players have kept their unopened card packages from arena runs or card chaos.

But if you don't necessarily need new cards today, you should perhaps wait for Wednesday and the maintenance. For one thing, there was no patch in the Blizzard Launcher yet, but this doesn't have to mean anything. A change to the card probability is almost certain only on the server side. On the other hand, there were a few postings from players who still received duplicates when opening card packages after Blizzard had published the news. So better be on the safe side.

On the occasion of yesterday's ranking reset, Blizzard has now introduced the card back reward for August. Matching the theme of Knights of the Frost Throne, Arthas and the Ice Crown Citadel, there is the Blood Death Knight card back if you reach at least 20th place in the rated ranked games in August.
