PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - New patch planning

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is changing the schedule for patches. As the developers announced today, there will now be longer periods between updates to ensure quality.

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - More testing, fewer hotfixes

Anyone who has played PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS directly after the updates for the past few weeks has seen for themselves how the servers struggled with latency problems. After the introduction of the first person mode, the servers bugged and the animations did not match 100% either. So the developers had to work quickly on hotfixes.

In part, these problems can be attributed to the weekly or monthly update structure. This has been adhered to since the publication of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS as Early Access in March 2017. In the beginning, of course, the developers wanted to add as much content as possible to their game as quickly as possible. The features that are still missing are now so extensive and complex that a week of development time is no longer enough. The times on the test server were also very tight. The first person function, for example, was only on the test server for almost 24 hours and was then already uploaded to the live server. This was the only way for the developers to meet the deadline for the weekly update.

The difficulties that such a strict schedule brings with it should now be resolved. The test times for patches are now longer and the new features are examined more closely. This should reduce the number of hotfixes and problems when installing them on the live server.

The development team at PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS promises that it will  the new system will not result in less new content. The development speed remains the same, only the test periods until the features land on the live server are extended. According to the publisher, this does not change the schedule until the official release.
