GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

The latest balancing update for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is bigger than announced. In addition to the social features such as friends list etc., the biggest change in the game is that gold cards are no longer immune to damage and unit abilities. Up to now, gold cards were indestructible and could not be influenced.

In addition, there are almost 30 new cards distributed across all factions.

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game Patch from 8/29/2017

For the next three days after the patch is released, the following cards have higher value when ground:

NEUTRAL / GENERAL

  • Gold cards are no longer immune to damage and card abilities.
  • New card added: Lambert

  • The old cards for Lambert, Eskel and Vesemir now have “Wolfsschule:” in front of their names.
  • The old maps for Lambert, Eskel and Vesemir now have a new map graphic.
  • New map graphics for plague!
  • Resilience is now called full moon potion.
  • Full moon potion improves up to 6 units by 2.
  • In the mulligan / card selection screen, the player cards are highlighted in blue and the opposing cards in red.
  • The properties Assault, Damnation, Reverse Development and Stubbornness are now in the card description.
  • The properties have been overhauled and revised.
  • Units with toughness that were previously upgraded will now have their strength reset in the next round.
  • Cards that are revealed now only trigger their ability when revealed by their owner.
  • All trio skills have been removed from the game.
  • Rain now deals 1 damage to 2 randomly selected units in a row.

  • Regis now deals damage equal to half of its base strength (rounded down) to a unit and buffers by the amount of damage dealt.
  • Triss: Butterfly Spell Power changed from 5 to 6.
  • Triss: From now on, butterfly magic has the property "death wish". If this unit is destroyed during the opponent's turn, boost the weakest allied units by 2.
  • Yennefer's Power: The Sorceress changed from 4 to 7.

  • Geralt: Aard Power changed from 8 to 6.
  • Geralt: Aard now lets you choose 3 units to push back.
  • Geralt: Aard now deals 3 damage to target units instead of 2.
  • Geralt: Aard can now target units in the siege line.
  • Overdose now deals 2 damage to up to 6 enemy units.
  • Thunder Potion now improves 3 neighboring units by 3 and adds 2 armor to them.
  • Bekker's distorting mirror now deals up to 10 damage to the strongest unit and improves the weakest unit by the amount of damage done.
  • Award-winning cow now generates a non-collectable chort that has 7 strength and no abilities.
  • Leader tokens have been removed from the leader's map preview.
  • Dimeritium Bomb now targets 5 adjacent units.
  • Manticor Poison now deals 12 damage to a unit.
  • Villentretenmerth's armor value has been increased by 3, and it doesn't burn itself.
  • Dimeritium Shackles now deal 3 damage when cast on an enemy unit.
  • Stammelford's tremor now deals 1 damage to all units. If at least 1 unit is killed, an earth genius is generated. Only one genius can be generated this way.
  • Geralt no longer has the Valor ability and his power has been changed to 13.
  • Stately edict now also improves the played card by 2.
  • Ciri's armor value has been increased by 3.
  • Chironex Power changed from 1 to 4.
  • Hansi's Power changed from 7 to 8.
  • Ocvist Power changed from 6 to 7.
  • Quen does not choose gold cards as targets.

  • Ice Giant now improves itself by 6 when Frost is cast anywhere on the battlefield (the buff no longer disappears when Frost is removed).
  • Kelajno Harpy Power changed from 3 to 5.
  • Harpy Egg now generates a non-collectable Harpy Chick that has no ability and is doomed.
  • Harpy Egg now buffs a unit it was consumed by an additional 4 (instead of 5).
  • Ghoul will now only consume one bronze unit from your graveyard.
  • Wild Hunt Riders now increases Frost damage in the opposite row by 1.
  • Caranthir Power changed from 9 to 8.
  • Caranthir now moves 1 enemy unit into its row instead of 3.
  • Jotunn now lets you select 3 enemy units to move on their side into his line and deals 2 damage to them or 3 damage if Frost is in line.
  • The base strength of Shadow changed from 7 to 4.
  • Shadow now allows you to play a Bronze Death Wish unit from your deck.
  • Drowned Man now deals 2 damage to the unit he moved or 4 damage if the unit was moved into a row with weather effect. Drowned Man's power changed from 8 to 7.
  • Forest Schrat Power changed from 5 to 4.
  • Elder Misty Power changed from 7 to 8.
  • Griffin will now trigger a death wish from an allied bronze unit.
  • Ore griff now moves a bronze card from the opponent's graveyard into yours.
  • Archgriff's power changed from 7 to 8.
  • Intimidator's power changed from 10 to 12.
  • Water woman now generates crab spider venom instead of shredded.
  • Kayran Power changed from 8 to 4.
  • Kayran will now consume a unit with a strength of 6 or less on either side of the battlefield. If the ability doesn't trigger, Kayran will empower herself by 8.
  • Succubus now moves the strongest enemy unit on the opposite side to the player's side after 2 rounds.
  • Succubus now has the "Loyal" attribute
  • Succubus Power changed from 5 to 4.
  • Old Spearhead: Asleep armor value increased by 5.
  • Old Spearhead: Awake armor value increased by 2.
  • Draug now generates a Draugir (new, non-collectable card; takes on the strength of a card that banishes it from the graveyard of the side on which it is used) for every player with at least one bronze or silver card in their graveyard in a random row ).
  • Draug Power changed from 7 to 8.
  • Imlerith's power changed from 8 to 9.
  • Giant Toad first draws a card and then consumes it. In addition, giant toad is improved by 5 if the card consumed was a special card.

  • Tordarroch Shieldsmith Power changed from 5 to 7.
  • Tordarroch Shieldsmith now also inflicts 2 armor.

  • Berserk Raider is also now buffed by every cursed unit on the battlefield (if a unit is both cursed and wounded, Berserk Raider is buffed by 2).

  • Black Infantry Rifleman now has the "Agility" trait.
  • Alba Spearman now has the "Agility" trait.
  • Nauzicaa Brigade now has the "Agility" trait.
  • Damage dealt by Nauzicaa Brigade changed from 5 to 7.
  • Emhyr casts an allied unit from hand first and then returns an allied unit to hand.

  • Fire Scorpion power changed from 6 to 4.
  • Fire Scorpion damage changed from 3 to 4.
  • Mangonel Power changed from 6 to 7.
  • Stefan Skellen now improves the top loyal unit in the deck by 2.
