PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS not only hit the headlines this week with new sales records, but a new weapon is announced for the next patch.
PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - 10 million games sold
The success story of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS continues. The developers were able to celebrate 8 million copies sold recently, but a few weeks later it is already over 10 million. In terms of player numbers, the Battle Royal Shooter is currently outpacing any competition on Steam, even CS: GO and DOTA 2, Valve's previous flagships, have to clear first place at the moment.
So it's no wonder that developer Brandon "Playerunknown" Greene has to slowly set new goals. In an interview he answered the question "How long could the growth continue?" Very confidently with: "When I think of such questions, I always think of League of Legends, with over 100 million players, that would be gigantic"
There is still a long way to go, but so far PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is not even out of Early Access. The possibilities seem really endless, also with regard to the cooperation with Microsoft and the Xbox One implementation.
A new weapon was announced on Twitter for the next update. The Mini-14 will be available across Erangel Island next week after the patch.
