Fight of Gods - Steam blocked in Malaysia

The game "Fight of Gods“Has resulted in Malaysia blocking the entire Steam platform in their country. What sounds more like a newspaper duck was really a reality yesterday. Whoever wanted to access Steam in Malasiya received the following message:

Fight of Gods Steam Block

Steam is now available again, but Fight of Gods is no longer available in the region.

Since Steam does not offer many games in all regions in order to comply with local laws, it is surprising why the government of Malaysia did not directly request such a "geoblock".

On Reddit, a user found the supposed reason:

Earlier today, it was reported that the MCMC has contacted Valve and requested that Fight of Gods be geoblocked for Malaysians within the next 24 hours, or risk further action being taken.

Reddit: Well there's the problem. They expected a response from Steam Support within 24 hours.

Jokes aside, Malaysia's legislation has specific anti-blasphemy sections. And that includes the Fight of Gods game according to the authorities.

Fight of Gods is a fighting game such as: Streetfighter only where gods and mythological figures compete against each other. So if you've always wanted to compete as Jesus against Buddha, this is the opportunity. Whether and how it offends someone in their faith when religious figures are used in a game is up to you.

Fight of Gods has been available in Early Access on Steam since September 4th.
