The 24 teams of the League of Legends World Championship 2017 in China have been determined. With yesterday's group draw, the groups for the preliminary round and 3/4 of the groups for the main round are now fixed.
The 4 groups of the preliminary round consist of 3 teams each, of which only one can qualify for the main round.
The 4 groups are:
Group a:
- Team WE (LPL)
- Gambit (LCL)
- Lyon Gaming (LLN)
Group B:
- Cloud9 (NA LCS)
- Team oNe Esports (CBLoL)
- Dire Wolves (OPL)
Group C:
- Fnatic (EU LCS)
- Young Generation (GPL)
- Kaos Latin Gamers (CLS)
Group D:
- Honk Kong Attitude (LMS)
- 1907 Fenerbahçe (TCL)
- Rampage (LJL)
From these groups, after 2 rounds of everyone-against-everyone, only the first-placed team progresses. In which group of the main round the individual teams come will be decided with an extra draw after the end of the preliminary round.

So there are currently 4 groups for the main round with 3 of 4 teams. After the group stage of the main round has ended, the two best teams in each group advance. Thus, in the KO round, 8 teams face each other.
