The developers of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS are slowly orienting themselves towards release and will bring PC version 1.0 to the test server next week.
In this update, that is special "Vaulting & climbing" (jumping and climbing) system the big novelty that needs to be extensively tested and optimized.
The 4 biggest changes of the update:
- Client and server optimization
- Jumping & climbing system
- Changes in driving vehicles
- Revision of the ballistics
According to the developers, some of the mechanics have been tweaked to accommodate more realism to offer. However, these changes are not final. Because of this, the team asks for feedback from the community and hopes that the players will actively participate.
Bluehole Studio would like to publish the exact patch notes in the course of the next week.
PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Vaulting & Climbing
Apart from the fact that you can jump over the next fence more elegantly, the new Vaulting & Climbing feature is primarily intended to implement new tactical possibilities. PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS offers a lot of possibilities to take advantage of the landscape and the map. Be it towers for snipers or hills as cover from them. With the new movement system, there should therefore be even more variants to defuse or avoid dangerous situations. Campers now have to be even more careful, because previously safe positions can sometimes be approached from several directions.
Initially, the team planned that players would be able to negotiate objects up to a maximum height of 1 meter. But the developers have now revised that and increased the amount 2.3 meters elevated. In addition, the game figure should also be able to squeeze through openings with the appropriate height and width. Windows in smaller houses are ideal for this. The developers also talk about the technical side on their blog on Steam. So there is 40 animation variants for different heights and situations. The jump and climb over functions can also be assigned to different keys in order to have more control.
The complete blog entry by PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS developers you can read it on Steam if you are interested. These also mention the ongoing fight against cheaters and hackers. The developers also explain that new surveillance systems will be built in to expose fraudsters.
