This is the reaction to an unparalleled "shitstorm" that the first version of the Microtransactions in StarWars: Battlefront 2 has caused. Approx. 40 hours of play calculated the fans are required to like just one of the top heroes Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker to unlock. Obviously, this was supposed to stimulate the sale of the loot boxes and the microtransactions. If StarWars: Battlefront 2 were a FreeToPlay game, you might understand the whole thing, but the game is sold as a full-price game for 60 €. The player community put the developers under tremendous pressure with an unprecedented negative reaction. The attempt of an employee to defend the decision then backfired. The corresponding answer became a negative record on Reddit, there have never been so many downvotes.
That left a giant even for a publisher Electronic Artsnot to make any choice other than adjustments. In the first step, the prices for heroes were around 75% decreased. That is still several hours of playing time, but it is within acceptable limits and gives you the feeling of having achieved something.
It remains to be seen what the final version of the Microtransactions will look like. StarWars: Battlefront 2 launches today, November 17th for PlayStation 4. Xbox One and PC.
