The current esports season of League of Legends provides some surprises. In South Korea, the former super team is weak SKT T1 and loses in the US Team Solo Mid (TSM) against arch rivals Cloud 9.
League of Legends - Korea LCK:
The 2-time world champions of SKT T1 for top players Faker After 4 weeks with 3 wins and 5 defeats, they only struggle to reach 6th place in the Korean league. The front runner is the KING ZONE DragonX Team with 7 to 1 wins. The team formerly known as Longzhu Gaming was only won in week 1 by last year's world champion team KSV esports (back then Samsung Galaxy) defeated.
USA - LCS NA:
Fans are used to the American Solo Mid team "failing" at international tournaments, years of elimination in the group phase is almost standard. At the same time it was also the standard for the TSM LCS NA Always at the forefront, the last 6 regional titles all went to Midlaner Bjergsen's team. With a new botlane, freshly imported from Europe and a new Korean coach, everything should be different this year.
It sounds like a meme from Reddit, but everything has changed: TSM is currently having an unprecedented series of losses and after 5 weeks is only 6. 4 wins 6 losses in total and 2-0 this weekend against Cloud9 and Clutch Gaming, are slowly but surely making the fans doubt their team.
The top positions are held by Team Echo Fox with 9: 1 and Cloud 9 with 8: 2. Team Solo Mid has to work hard to improve the table position in the remaining 4 weeks and to keep a chance for the playoffs.
EU LCS:
The only region where everything seems to be the same at the moment is Europe. It says G2 esports at the top, however, must take the place Team vitality and Fnatic divide. The Unicorns of Love team, which is very popular with the fans, is unfortunately the bottom of the league and also FC Schalke 04 has to be content with 8th place after the strong first week.
So there is still a long way to go for the top teams TSM and SKT T1 to get fit for the World Championship. Especially at SKT T1, many fans had expected that the team would come back with anger after the defeat in the 2017 World Cup finals and beat their opponents devastatingly.
