The finale of the League of Legends Mid Season Invitational promised a lot of excitement and kept that promise. At the end of the internationally strong tournament there were each other Kingzone Dragons from Korea and Royal Never Give Up from China opposite.

League of Legends - Firmly in Korean hands?

The Kingzone Dragons came into the tournament and the final as clear favorites, the Korean supremacy in League of Legends was due to the successes of SKT T1 and Faker almost a given thing. The RNG team seemed all the more motivated with ADC Uzi, who - until now - was one of the tragic figures in League Esports. Lost twice in the final of the world championship, no national title, no MSI win, only 2nd place for Uzi.

After winning the title in the Chinese LCS this year, the knot now seems to be broken. In 4 games and with an outstanding performance by the ADC player, RNG was able to prevail against Kingzone and win the MSI tournament.

3: 1 was the end result with which the Korean winning streak in tournaments was broken. It's been almost 3 years since a Korean team had one Best of 5 Series against a non-Korean team.

"I've been trying to win this title for six years now, I can't imagine that I'm standing here winning this trophy."  

"I've been trying to win this topless for 6 years, it's unimaginable that I'm here and won it."

The next goal is clearly the World Cup at the end of the year and it will be interesting to see whether the Korean teams can regain the top position on home soil. Perhaps by then the SKT T1 team around Faker, which is a little weak this season, will be back on the job and have a say.
