Diablo 3 fans in the US were able to attend the first Global Influencer Summit last month. They learned new details about the necromancer firsthand, they could Meleemancer Build Test play and discuss directly with the developers and designers. Below is a brief overview of the most important findings.
Overview of the Diablo 3 Necromancer
- The Necromancer will be released with patch 2.6.
- The class was mainly developed around sets and play styles. However, without paying attention to the current group meta, the necromancer still seems to fit into the support role.
- In terms of play, all skills should differ extremely strongly
Skills, runes and resources
The necromancer will have 3 resources: essence, health and corpses. So far there is no passive essence regeneration.
Necromancers have Physical, Frost, and Poison damage types. This makes the legendary Ring Convention of Elements very useful for the class.
Command skeletons (a skill that was shown at Blizzcon last year) now only summons skeletons. Skeleton Mages will still exist, just no longer as part of the Command Skeletons skill.
Revive is a corpse skill and was very complex to develop due to the different skins that had to be created for each creature type.
There will be a maximum for revives and the resurrected creatures will only last a limited time. Also, elite monsters will look the same as normal ones and bosses cannot be revived, unfortunately.
The good news at this point: Revive works on Malletlords.
Devour (Devour) allows you to consume corpses to gain essence. With the rune Cannibalize you get back health at the same time. When used, all corpses are consumed on the entire screen. This may be wasteful, but it is intentionally designed so that the skill is not spammed in a pointless way.
Armor sets and designs

The 4 sets of the Necromancer will be divided into a Ranged Caster Set, a Pet Focused Set, the third with a focus on Blood Skills and the last for melee.
The Necromancer was designed with 3 themes: Blood & Bones, Frost and Blight.
- blood Sills are more powerful, but cost health.
- frost Skills are not ice storms, they revolve around the cold of the grave and death.
- Blight (Plague) is about death and decay and includes debuffs and slowing effects
In contrast to the witch doctor, the necromancer comes across as very serious and without slapstick moments or comments.
In the group game, each necromancer will see their own corpses. For console co-op on one screen, corpses may have 2 charges.
So much for the most important facts at a glance. If you are interested, more details can be found on the English DiabloFans homepage.
