Had quite a surprise Bethesda today for fans of the coming Fallout 76 Game, it won't be available on Steam. After the predecessor Fallout 4 was released on Steam, that's quite a about-face. Most of the other Bethesda Games can also be found on Steam, which is now one of the giants in the industry.

Fallout 76 only through Bethesda.net

In an email to pcgamer it says literally:

"The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the BETA and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam,"

Translated:

"The PC version of Fallout 76, that applies to the BETA and the release, will only be available via Bethesda.net and not on Steam."

BETA is the Fallout abbreviation for Beta Tests and stands for "Break it Early Test Application".

The second surprise is the information that the BETA version should contain the complete game and that any progress will be carried over into the finished game.

"Our current plan for the BETA is it will be the full game and all your progress is saved for launch,

Translated:

"At the moment, our plans are for the BETA to include the full game and for any progress to be preserved."

The beta should start according to previous plans in October and all pre-orderers of Fallout 76 automatically have a place.

The game will be released for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and will offer a multiplayer mode
