GWENT factions overview of the start of the open beta

GWENT

In time for the start of the public beta for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, developer CD Projekt Red has started to publish videos about the individual factions on YouTube.

Below is a brief overview of the characteristics that characterize the factions in the card game and how they are to be played.

GWENT - Four Nations and the Monster Horde

A total of 5 factions are playable in GWENT:

  • Nilfgaard
  • monster
  • Skellige
  • Northern Kingdoms
  • Scoia'tael

Everyone has their own specific leaders and units who put their own stamp on the decks, for example the monsters tend to rely on mass and are weather resistant. While Nilfgaard acts more with diplomacy and spies.

Nilfgaard

The faction that relies the most on spies and cunning to ruin the opposing tactics and achieve victory itself. Nilfgaard's spies are smuggled into the enemy ranks and reveal cards or assassinate units.

monster

While other troops suffer from the weather and are decimated by snowstorms and other catastrophes, the monsters live under such conditions. Never alone, they almost always appear in hordes. If the going gets tough, they'll also eat an ally to absorb their power.

Skellige

For Skellige's army, possible death in battle is no obstacle. Rather, they are looking for death, so that their priestesses will bring them back from the cemetery more strongly.

Scoia'tael

The Scoia'tael are based on speed and agility. They prefer to avoid the attacks of their opponents and start a counterattack from the shadows. With cards played face down, they lay ambushes for the enemy.
