One of the insider tips for fans of the Metroidvania genre was at the beginning of the year Hollow Knight. Now the developers are making the first of the Kickstarter Goals come true and are releasing the first free DLC in July: Hidden Dreams.

Hollow Knight - The Background

Metroidvania is the combination of Metroid and Castlevania and describes action-adventure games that offer sophisticated bosses and plenty of opportunity for exploration.

Castlevania - Symphony of the Night is one of the best-known representatives of the genre and still has countless fans 20 years after its release.

In Hollow Knight let's take on the role of the namesake and start our exploration of the vast underworld, which was once a kingdom full of peaceful insects. In the meantime, however, something is wrong and we set out to research the background and learn about our own origins in the process.

Equipped with a rusty nail and the ability to jump, Hollow Knight follows the genre pattern and we find upgrades and new movement skills.

Jump higher? Finally we can go back over the obstacle in the first level. Swim? Opens the way for us through the sewers. With each new skill, new paths open up and we can reach further areas with more enemies and prey. The vast world is big enough to keep you busy for days. The attraction of discovering how to get past the various traps and enemies is immense and you don't even want to put the controller down.

Hollow Knight - DLC Hidden Dreams

The free DLC offers:

• 2 New Bosses - Epic new duels with some of the toughest opponents that will challenge the best players. Rich loot awaits the victor over the completely optional enemies.
• 2 new songs - matching the epic new battles, there must also be the right background music.
• New Upgrade - Dream Gate: A completely new way to travel further from Hallownest. In one fell swoop, travels across the map.
• A new stag station - In addition to the new travel method, we also discover a long-lost stag station. The station was locked after the king's disappearance and is waiting to be found by us.

The content of the DLC can be approached by the players at any time. The release date is in July, the developers will provide more details as soon as the date approaches.
