For a long time Aatrox had disappeared and especially in the esports scene he was not played at all. Now it was finally time for the complete overhaul of the fallen warrior with the giant sword. Its revision is probably the most serious that a champion has ever received, at least according to the design team.

Here is the story of Aatrox:

Aatrox, a fallen god-warrior and one-time threat to Runeterra, was, like the rest of his people, sealed in ancient weapons and imprisoned for centuries.

These are now over.

The Blade of the Dark makes use of a stolen body, a grotesque image of his former form, and now wants to take the apocalyptic vengeance he has been plotting for for ages:

the absolute Destruction.

Aatrox new abilities at a glance

PASSIVE: DEATH BRINGER

Aatrox's next basic attack has a longer range and deals damage equal to a percentage of the target's maximum health. This attack also reduces any healing and any shields the target receives over the next few seconds.

The cooldown of Deathbringer diminishes a little each time Aatrox uses an ability or when he is performing The blade of the dark Hit a champion with the edge of the sword.

Q: THE BLADE OF THE DARK

Aatrox swings his greatsword up to three times. Each successive blow does more damage, hits an individual area and can hit with the edge of the sword (a second, smaller hit zone).

Edge of the sword: If enemies are hit at the farther end on the first two activations and in the center of the blow on the third activation, they are briefly thrown up and take significantly more damage.

W: INFERNAL CHAINS

Aatrox strikes the ground, dealing damage to the first enemy hit and slowing them briefly. If the opponent is a champion or a large monster, they will be chained to the point of impact.

If the chained enemy is still in the impact area after a few seconds, he will be pulled back to the center and suffer damage again.

E: DARK LEAP

passive: Aatrox heals itself for some of the damage it causes.

Active: Aatrox leaps forward and increases his attack damage for a few seconds. Gloom leap can store up to 2 charges and together with The blade of the dark can be used.

R: WORLD DESTRUCTION

Aatrox unleashes his true power, grows to monstrous size and takes off with his mighty wings. As he transforms, Aatrox terrifies nearby minions and briefly increases his movement speed (this bonus is reactivated when not in combat).

The transformed Aatrox benefits from increased damage and receives a well of blood that lasts for World Destroyer Saves life. Should he suffer fatal damage in his true form, he will be resuscitated.
