With the release of Patch 2.6.0 for Path of Exile, the number of players has increased by almost 40%.
Developer Grinding Gear Games announced that the launch of patch 2.6.0 was the most successful in the history of Path of Exile. With the release of the update and the start of the Legacy Challenge League, GGG was able to enjoy 112,800 players online at the same time. Of these, 65,000 were on the Steam platform alone. This made the hack'n'slay title one of the most played titles in the Games on Steam, right after the classics Dota 2 and CS:Go.
Thanks to the three-month development interval, the player base is growing continuously. The release of the "Atlas of Worlds" patch in September 2016 already resulted in 19% more players. A few months later, in December, with the Breach Update, 34% new players were added. With that, Path of Exile has more than doubled its player base in just 9 months.
In the course of the major updates, a new 3-month league usually starts with which additional game mechanics are built in. The league mechanisms that were popular with the players are often implemented for standard characters.
Path of Exile - The Future
The upward trend will hardly stop in the future either, with the expansion “The Fall of Oriath” announced for the summer and the upcoming Xbox One version, Path of Exile has a bright future ahead of them.
The community expects the expansion with great hope. With it, GGG will reorganize the game and upgrade from the previous 4 files to 10 files. Path of Exile is one of the first action RPGs to break with the standard pattern of the genre. After the first play through, the player does not just stubbornly start again with act 1, only with a higher level of difficulty, but the difficulty increases continuously over 10 acts.
Path of Exile is a FreetoPlay Action RPG and can be downloaded from Steam or the official website of the developer being found.
