It is hard to imagine the media without virtual reality these days. Nevertheless, many have so far shy away from the acquisition costs to try it out. Virtual reality amusement arcades, such as those operated by the operator Virtuis, can help.

There you can put the new technology through its paces and pass the time together with friends in a friendly multiplayer match.

Amusement arcades may not seem very contemporary these days, but with this idea they could definitely regain their old popularity.

In the past, when the hardware for games was expensive and not everyone had a console in front of the TV, arcades were very popular. In the meantime, however, there is hardly a household without a PC + Playstation, Xbox or Wii U and thus few incentives to exchange the comfort of your own living room for the arcade.

Then the idea of the VR arcade comes up, which also offers more unusual features than just virtual reality glasses. Virtuis provides hardware with luxury items such as treadmills that nobody has to stand around at home. In addition to the improved immersion, there is not just one device, but enough that all friends can play together at the same time.

15 new virtual reality arcades by 2018

So far the Virtuis amusement arcade was only available in Nuremberg, but the company is planning a major expansion. Accordingly, the starting shot for 6 new locations in Bremen, among others, should be given this year. In 2018, 9 more halls are planned in Northern Germany, so a total of 15 new VR Arcades.

When it comes to games, there is a mix of games known from HTC Vive and in-house developments. Especially the games developed in-house focus on multiplayer, especially 4 player matches are very popular.

There should be between 8 and 20 stations in the arcades. The price is 14.49 € for 20 minutes, which includes an introduction. A full hour costs € 39.49.
