Grim Dawn - Sold over 1 million times

Grim Dawn

With all the Path of Exiles and Diablo 3 giants in the Action RPG and Hack & Slay genre, you sometimes forget pearls like Grim Dawn. The spiritual successor to the hit game Titan Quest, has now sold more than 1 million times. The Crucible expansion has sold 200,000 copies. To celebrate this milestone, developer Crate Entertainment is offering the game at a 50% discount on their website. You get the same discount on Humble Bundle, this offer is valid until the end of May.

Statement from the CEO of Grim Dawn developer Crate Entertainment

Crate Entertainment's CEO Arthur Bruno posted on the Grim Dawn Forums about the difficult road to this success. We have translated part of it for you:

"It's crazy to think that this success story somehow arose from such humble and uncertain beginnings, overcoming so many setbacks and challenges. I repeatedly questioned what I was doing those first three hard years of development. "
It's crazy to think that this success story was born from such humble and uncertain beginnings. I am repeatedly asked what development work has been done in these first 3 tough years.

"Looking back, I think the only thing that kept me going on the bad days, what the responsibility I felt to see it through, for the people who had invested time in the project and those who contributed money early on through our website. Even with that drive to see it through, no matter my doubts, the later support of thousands more backers on Kickstarter and Early Access, validated what we were doing and gave us a real shot at making the dream a reality.

The support of the fans via Kickstarter was extremely important for the success

Looking back, I have to say the only thing that motivated me to continue on some difficult days was the feeling of responsibility for the whole team and the people who had invested in this project. In addition, the support of thousands of fans through Kickstarter and Early Access led me to successfully complete this project at all costs.

“It was still a long road and lot of sweat and tears, from the 2012 Kickstarter to our 2016 release but I had the great fortune to find amazing teammates who made that journey a lot easier and the game much better than it could have been otherwise . Much thanks must also go to my long-time friends “Rhis,” “Jmack,“ the guys at SkewSound and Brian Parnell (now working on his own project Praey for the Gods) - without their early help; Grim Dawn may have never got off the ground. "

It was a long, arduous journey, full of sweat and tears. From the launch of the Kickstarter campaign in 2012 to the launch in 2016. But being lucky enough to find such great employees made things easier and the game a lot better than you could imagine. Big thanks to my longtime friends Rhis, Jmack, the team at SkewSound, and Brian Parnell (who is now on his own Project "Prey to the Gods" works), without her help, Grim Dawn would never have made it.

Grim Dawn was released for PC in 2016 and now has its first DLC, Crucible.
