Valve may not be the fastest or most productive publisher, but they know what the fans want and deliver it with a revamped Dust II Card for CS: GO.

Dust II has been a classic since its release and probably every Counterstrike player knows it.

Redesigning something so iconic naturally also involves dangers. Changes have to be well thought out and sensible and bring a better feel to the game, instead of just being new for the sake of being new.

This is also reflected in the goals that the developers had in mind for the Dust II update:

  • Improve the legibility of the map for players.
  • Refine movement using the map, including coverage options.
  • To bring the visual impressions in line with modern maps.

Interested players can see for themselves whether this was successful in the CS: GO beta version. All information about the Access to the beta can be found here.

Among other things, the lighting has been improved in several corners, such as the lower tunnels. Campers may have to look for new places with better coverage.

The resolution of the graphic has almost quadrupled. And the look of the card is now more uniform. The bad news, however, is that the 2 pizza stalls have disappeared and have been replaced by ... dentists.

On the official rework page There are also nice before and after comparisons of the map, including new character models.

To provide a reasonable revision, asks Valve the feedback from the players, who are all invited to test. Further ideas are also welcome.
