Destiny 2 dominates the headlines of the game industry at the moment, rarely has there been such hype about a sequel and the PC version. Since the publication on Tuesday, there have been some negative voices among the praise.
Destiny 2 - Have Hundreds / Thousands Wrongly Banned Or Is It All Fake?
So there were quite a few players who claimed to have been banned in this short time. The reasons for this seemed to be inherently harmless programs that Overlays used. Including the popular voice chat program Discord, Overlay programs for streamers or even Nvidia Experience, which offers functions such as streaming. The last claim was particularly spicy, since Nvidia was heavily involved in the development of the PC version of Destiny 2.
After the reports on the forums and social media platforms piled up, the first official figures from Destiny 2 Operator Bungie that only about 400 players have been banned. There would also be no automatic system that would block an account, but only after an investigation by an employee. The 400 accounts / players that were banned used tools or cheats and were banned for it. Of these 400, 4 cases would have been found that were wrongly blocked and this has already been reversed.
The statements about huge ban waves would therefore be in the category Fake news classify.
Bungie statement
Destiny 2 Security
We have seen lots of questions about bans being issued in the PC version of Destiny 2. To provide some information, we would like to share some facts.
The following is true:
- Destiny 2 cannot automatically ban you, only Bungie can ban a player after a manual investigation
- Yesterday, we banned approximately 400 players on PC
- Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game
- We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc.
- Information on using third-party applications can be found here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101
- We are overturning 4 of the bans that were issued during the PC Beta
We are committed to providing an experience that is fun and fair for the millions of players who have joined us in this community.
As an update, a few hours later there was the following statement:
Update: As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game.
Translated: During the review, a group of players was really wrongly banned and now unblocked again.
Bungie holds back with exact numbers
Unfortunately calls Bungie no exact figures at this point. According to the forums, however, it was significantly more than 4 or 400. Of course, with such things, statements on the Internet must be viewed with caution and a not insignificant part of the complaints can be wrong.
Nonetheless, there are several videos circulating on YouTube, including those from well-known streamers that have been blocked from normal gaming. In all likelihood, Bungie will have an automatic device Streaming or recording programs, incorrectly identified as cheat software.
Let's hope these issues will be resolved soon and all fair players you guys Destiny 2 to be able to enjoy. Apart from this negative news, the PC version only receives praise from gamers and critics.
