After more and more games came into the limelight in the discussion of loot boxes and lottery systems in the last few weeks, the one that has been so highly "hyped" is now Destiny 2 get in the line of fire.
Nowadays, additional cosmetic content such as skins, armor colors etc. can be found in almost every game and most of the time hardly anyone is bothered by it. FreeToPlay games such as League of Legends or Path of Exile are financed by this and constantly offer new champions or levels and many more.
It gets more borderline in cases like Middle-earth: Shadow of War, i.e. full price games that then offer advantages in the game. With loot boxes (loot boxes), which the players have to buy for additional real money in order to receive a random selection of more or less useful items, Shadow of War almost becomes “Pay to Win” (numbers to win).
Naive as we gamers are, you could expect to get the complete game for a purchase price of 60 €, but this is often not the case these days.
Destiny 2 - Deluxe Edition for 99 € does not offer ALL content
Destiny 2 also offers loot boxes that can be bought for the "silver" currency and silver is sold for real money. You also get the loot boxes with a level up, but of course this is much slower. The boxes contain cosmetic items such as colors for your armor, special skins for weapons or armor improvements that offer advantages in the game, such as faster cooldowns for skills.
A negative thing that is noticeable at first glance: Your hero in Destiny 2 has 4 pieces of armor, but the paint comes in packages of 3 from the boxes. So you don't have to be lucky just once to get the color of your choice, but twice to have all of your equipment in the right look.
And selling the armor upgrades in a PvP game for real money isn't the ideal case for many fans either.
The whole thing is particularly annoying for buyers of the Season Pass, until now you had access to all optional content. In this case you have to invest additional money in the loot boxes for the high price of 99 €.
It remains to be seen whether the fans will cast their vote this time with the wallet or whether publisher Activision will be confirmed in such methods. We have included an English video from our colleagues at GameInformer at the beginning of the article, in which some of the Destiny 2 loot boxes are opened and their contents are shown.
Destiny 2 has been available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since September 6th. The PC version will appear in a few weeks on October 24th.
