To the delight of all German football fans, Electronic Arts and the DFB were able to acquire the license for FIFA 18 some. This will also include all 20 third division teams of the 2017/18 season with more than 500 players. The DFB Cup is also part of it, which is making its FIFA debut.
For the first time in the long history of the FIFA series, traditional clubs such as SC Preußen Münster, 1. FC Magdeburg or FC Rot-Weiß-Erfurt are represented in the game.
FIFA 18 finally with the third Bundesliga and DFB Cup
The efforts to accommodate the third Bundesliga and the popular DFB Cup in FIFA 18 have been going on for a long time, but have so far failed due to Electronic Arts. The DFB and all German partners, like the clubs, had long been in agreement, but the focus of Electronic Arts (EA) and the developers was on the international leagues. The FIFA soccer series has been an international bestseller for years, regularly selling millions of copies.
The lack of a third division was a shame, especially for German fans, as, for example, the English division is represented up to the fourth division. In a survey on the FIFA homepage, the introduction of the 3rd Bundesliga was a coveted point among the fans, of 2 million votes, 220,000 for the 3rd division now caused a rethink at EA.
The official statement from the DFB also states:
“In addition to the 3rd division, the DFB Cup will be integrated for the first time. The DFB-Pokal can be played in FIFA 18 both separately and as part of the career mode. The German national team and the women's national team have been included in the FIFA series for several years with the original licenses as part of the partnership between DFB and EA. "
The release of FIFA 18 is scheduled for September 29, 2017 and the game will appear on Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
