Rumor has it that developer BioWare has the planned single player DLC content for Mass Effect: Andromeda discarded. A Facebook post that has meanwhile been exposed as a fake announced the cancellation for the single player DLC yesterday. Unfortunately, although the post itself was wrong, the information was apparently correct.
Although there was no official statement from BioWare on the matter, various industry insiders have since confirmed the rumor.
This would end the current Mass Effect: Andromeda chapter quite abruptly. The previous parts of the successful series mostly had very convincing DLC / expansions with comprehensive new stories. These filled the Mass Effect universe with additional life and characters.
After Lair of the Shadow Broker for Mass Effect 2 and Citadel for Mass Effect 3 received praise, the community had expected new stories for Andromeda as well.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Studio downsized in April
BioWare's Montreal Studio, responsible for the lion's share of Mass Effect: Andromeda, was downsized earlier in the quarter.
Conceived as a mini reboot of the series, ME: Andromeda is set in the neighboring galaxy and should offer a completely new Milky Way to explore. New races, new planets, new enemies and friends, unimagined opportunities for new exciting stories. Unfortunately, the initial reactions to the new title were rather mixed; there were endless complaints about the animations. BioWare tried to remedy the situation with patches, but the damage to the franchise seems to be great enough to stop further development for the time being.
So far, all of this information is still there unconfirmed and until there is a response from BioWare, there is always one tiny hope for fans of Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is the 4th installment in the series and was released in March 2017 and is available for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
